John Woodbridge pays tribute to this iconic football with a reissue crafted in the traditional way from carefully selected leather. In the 1930s, Brazilian industrialist Luis Pole, together with Antonio Tossolini and Juan Valbonesi, introduced the Superball brand. A few years later, their new model, the Duplo T, was logically chosen as the official ball of the 1950 “Copa do Mundo” in Brazil. Composed of 10 leather panels and equipped with a bladder with an inflation valve, the Duplo T was a technical innovation compared to earlier models: it had no laces, which made the ball rounder, prevented irregular bounces, and reduced the risk of player injuries. Named after its distinctive double inverted T design, the Duplo T marked a new step in the evolution toward the modern football we know today.
